What is Zakat al-Fitr?
A compulsory charity on every Muslim that purifies the fasting person from idle talk and feeds the poor on Eid day.
When to pay
Before the Eid prayer. It may be given a day or two earlier. Giving it after the prayer makes it ordinary charity.
The amount
One sa' of the staple food of your country (about 2.5–3 kg). Many scholars allow paying its monetary value. Your country's fatwa authority announces the amount each year.
Recipients
The poor and needy.
